Senior Recognition: Corey Henderson

The Cooper High School Track Team would like to recognize these seniors for all their hard work and dedication to their team and academics during their careers. Unfortunately, due to a global health crisis in our world today, all KHSAA athletic events have been cancelled for the remainder of the 2019-2020 academic year. Because we were not able to properly send-off our student-athletes, we hope that this small gesture of appreciation and recognition shows our love and gratitude for all of our student-athletes.

Parents/Guardians:

Doug Henderson & Desiree Henderson

Favorite Track Memory:

The first time I broke the school's 200m record freshman year, walking home with four golds and a trophy gave me a sense of pride and accomplishment. Because of this success, it drove me everyday to become better than I was the day before.

Athletic Achievements:

Track and field MVP 2019, 200m school record indoor/outdoor, placing 6th in state (400m), 4th in state(4x400m), 400m indoor school record.

Who were your biggest supporters?

My biggest supporters were my family, they were always wishing me the best of luck and constantly making sure that I was feeling ready before a meet.

What are your plans for after graduation?

I plan on going into the Navy at some point after high school either during or after college(NKU).

Any words of advice you have for your teammates.

Although the season ending this year was unexpected and terrible, always put in the work outside of practices. Everyone needs to take it seriously when the coaches say that you are a student athlete and not just an athlete. I wish I could have passed down some wisdom that I’ve learned through the years this season, but I guess I will have to return next year and help coach here and there. Hopefully that means I can be coach Corey again.

THANK YOU COREY
